Edit - Budget doesn't go far, does it?
No, but it's been like that always. The thing is that you should try to earn some budget in the first race, after which you can change a driver or car to something more valuable.

It appears you can join and enter in time up until early Friday morning.

You can probably join after this if you want a 20-race season ;)

Position 11 (Edit: actually 4th position!!) :D . Not too shabby so far.

Apart from the $2 million you earn per race for having a complete team, is there any other way of winning money? If not I'll never afford Mercedes/Hamilton/etc... :(

I think scoring points and guessing the pole time are the only ways of earning additional money.

This pole time, I selected 1m 23s 951 ten minutes before qualifying so I should have received 750k but for whatever reasons it said I never set a pole time, which is irritating.

Edit- I looked in the wrong place- check "view results".

Aha, so the pole time estimate is pretty important. I'll pay close attention next Free Practice.

as i understood, you'll have to set your pole time before the practice sessions. or did i get it wrong?

As per Cockpit Cowboy's post on the home page:

"All pole time guesses and team changes must be in place before the pit lane closes for Qualification. This is almost always exactly on the real-world green light; but reality can occasionally vary, so it is a good idea to submit a speculative pole time guess and the trim it later, as pole guesses can be freely changed whenever the pit lane is open. Remember that you need to set your pole time each and every race; your previous guess does not roll over to the next race!"
