I really can't stand the Halo, and I really don't like the graphics being applied, also the fact that the camera isn't on the centre-line of the vehicle also winds me up (that's not limited to this year though)

Suggestions have been made that the halo has helped prevent a driver from being hit by another car in F2. The rear wheel (attached) of one car hit the halo and was prevented from hitting the driver's head. There will, of course, be debate about whether the wheel would have hit anyway but it does appear from the damage that the halo has done its job.

Well I for one hope Martin Brundle and the rest of the vocal detractors are eating large chunks of humble pie - won't happen of course. As others will no doubt point out, this incident may not have resulted in a fatality or even a serious injury, but the point of the thing is to minimize risk. We don't know what may have happened because the halo was present to prevent anything happening!

Always good to hear Jackie Stewart talk on safety.

Now that the Halo's proved its worth I'm hoping the FIA work on enhancing the Halo's structural properties, and so can reduce the negative aesthetic impact it currently has. A sleeker design is needed while retaining its current function.

Jackie Stewart - the 3-times World Champion who nearly died at Spa and saw his friend and team mate die at Watkins Glen

NathanOlder - a keyboard warrior F1 fan who never did either.

Hmmm...let me just think about who is better positioned to discuss F1 safety...

And who said "I believe the halo should be there".

Hmmm...tricky.

Odd.. there didn't appear to be any tell-tale 'witness marks' - showing actual contact - on the halo..

A bit of PR/propaganda perhaps?

As for trotting out the tart-tongued tartan, Sir Jackson - he is a bit of a crusted-on relic, rather than a current/valid exponent..

Big black tyre marks along the side of the car and the along the side of the halo. Witness marks? Yes. PR propaganda? No

As I said earlier - it might not have done him any harm without the halo being there, but the halo definitely took a hit.

Ok, ta for the clarification.. the initial shots looked (to me) - like a livery scheme, rather than a lick o' slick..

Still.. an 'inconclusive' result IMO, as a rationale - to 'lock in' - the hideous halo..

Jackie never saw it and I nearly died in London. So I've just drawn level
I use a keypad and not a keyboard.

I was actually referring to things he said like when he insulted senna ect. It may be because he's getting old, but he does come out with his fair share of rubbish.
