On grounds that Vettel did a lot of mistakes and Hamilton didn't.

That is no real reason. Sitting comfortable in the best car let's you make less mistakes. Hamilton in Ferrari may have done the same amount of it. I don't say that you are not right but I highly doubt it because the Mercedes was the better car (mainly in Q) over a big part of the season. Vettel more than once showed that he can bring home the best car as Hamilton did. So the "defintely" is highly to doubt. But it might be.

I have to disagree on this. Baring 2011, Hamilton has always seemed more calm, cool, and collected while under pressure and stress. Vettel on the other hand, has seemed the opposite, and he seems to have gotten worse since he moved to Ferrari. 2017 Singapore, 2017 Baku, 2016 Mexico, immediately come to mind.

I think the initial (first 3 races) order will be:

Ferrari
Merc
RB
Renault
Force India
McLaren
Haas
STR
Sauber
Williams

Final order of the championship

Mercedes (duh)
RB
Ferrari
Force India
Haas
Renault
McLaren
Williams
STR
Sauber

Throwing my two pennies in, here's my take based on my analysis of the laptimes:

I do wonder if it turns out to be any good, I have considered as many factors as possible. (Or measurable.)

You're right my bad. Too conservative.

I'll change to:

Str (Honda engine ends up producing 2000 hp but can only handle a single race, they start from last but win every race with at least a lap ahead)
Haas (the car is not that great but they fixed the brake issues and apparently Grosjean was a god driver all along)

1force india
Alfa romeo-sauber
Renault
Williams
(They amazingly all tie with same points classification and almost all criteria, bacause of a very old rule the next tiebreaker is alfabetical order. Anticipating this sauber changes to Alfa Romeo-sauber but force India had already changed for 1force India)

Merc
Ferrari
(These teams get so angry at each other calling them cheaters that end up bumping cars every single race)
McLaren (can't finish a race because of 24 different 1 pound parts that break in each race, they blame honda)
Rb (after seeing the mighty honda they change engines but after one unfortunate breakdown when max was leading, Helmut Marko complains about the engine. It was the last straw for honda which from then on only provides them with my honda civic 1.6 engine from 1999, to comply with rules they add some empty titanium boxes that say mgu-h,k,tc,es,ce etc)

Non f1 fans still complain how boring and predictable f1 is, iotar will become the most active user here praising Grosjean as the new rosberg.

Dont sleep on the Williams. Sure the car is a dog right now, but once they unlock it, it will be up there fighting for 4th in constructors.

Looking at how the cars handled through the last sector on ted's notebook, plus some artistic license, this is my prediction:

1. Mercedes

2. RedBull
3. Ferrari

4. McLaren

5. Williams
6. Renault
7. Haas

8. Force India
9. Sauber
10. Toro Rosso
--- up with Williams, but otherwise... BOOM!
