It would be very exciting that would be a fact. Oddly enough, i think it could be one of the biggest -and last - chances of him going for a WDC again, but he HAS to do it right away.
still, there's the lingering risk, something that follows Alonso around somehow, that he could actually move to Ferrari and right then, the car is another disappointment.
it would really break my heart if that happens.

Especially if Fernando offers to drive for free. Surely that would do it ?

I don't think money is the problem for Mercedes or Ferrari.

I think the move to Renault was big parts to keep Alonso happy, leaving after the first season would be a bit of a stab in the back...

I can imagine Mercedes is still but hurt from the whole spygate. In the end it worked out, but with, among others, Alonso's testimony, their faith was sealed and they had to sell McLaren (with other reasons). You don't forget stuff like that. Thats also why the return to McLaren was less crazy then it looks on first sight.

Ferrari is possible, but why? It can only badly, maybe a WCC, But Vettel/Alonso would steal to many points from each other and couldn't compete against Hamilton/Bottas-Occon.

I guess another year at McLaren at least. Out of loyalty and because the work teams have better options at the moment.

If Fernando is smart, he'd do a lauda-style deal with Ferrari, offer to take a gigantic salary discount, but demand that the dozen millions he'd discount on the deal would be solely invested for him into the Ferrari car and improve the car to his likings.

I would not be surprised if Alonso announced his decision to concentrate on other series, probably with Mclaren

If this is true, than there is simply no way back to Mercedes. They have very strict rules on their employees and if there is only a suspicion for unloyalty, then they can not hire him.

Days like these are good for RIC's market value. If I were RBR, I'd do whatever to keep him. Verstappen is quick, but I don't know he's ready to lead the team just yet.

Fastest in all sessions and a race win. RIC probably should be signing with Merc or Ferrari ASAP before the penalties start ruining his chances of good results, so, before Canada...

Hoping he goes to Ferrari. If he doesn't go there, I hope Alonso does.

Ricciardo to Ferrari, leaving a seat free at Red Bull, which is filled by an Alonso fed up with McLaren. Of course by this time Red Bull have decided to be powered by Honda :-) Hey, someone had to suggest it.

Alonso is in a bit of a pickle. I can't see Ferrari or Mercedes wanting him. He probably should have joined Renault last year and built the team around him for a title challenge in 2019 or 2020.

That's pretty funny.

Personally, I'd like to see RIC at Mercedes.

TBH I think that's a bad move, the pendulum is swinging away from Mercedes to Ferrari imo.

Possibly. I'd say Merc and Ferrari are very even, but it looks like Merc have slipped because Bottas is a.., well, a dud.
Either way, RIC needs to leave RB. The post Monaco honeymoon won't last long.

If anything, Monaco has merely highlighted how dominant and precise Dan can be in a good car. He doesn't throw it away under pressure like Max does.

Monaco just increased his value ... again.
