That's the point, it wasn't his first go in F3 category and he succeeded in 3rd attempt. Whereas Max was a hit in first attempt.
 3rd attempt, your a funny chap. a Rookie is someone who is new to the job. 2004 was the first time Lewis ever competed in the European F3 championship. He was a rookie. He just didnt qualify for the Rookie Cup under the rules as he had 2 races in a national cup the year before.

Either way, Lewis won the championship, Max did not. And please dont use VW as an excuse, Max wasnt even the top VW driver, so give up with this BS. Max cant save your Schumacher records, Lewis is about to smash them. Just take it on the chin and get on with it.

Hamilton is going to raise the bar, maybe this thread should be renamed 'How high will the bar be raised"
Hamilton's teammate finished 2nd when he won the F3 title, his teammate also finished 3rd when he won the GP2 title. Let's just agree that it's obvious that he's been in the best teams for the majority of his career.
He's always been in good teams, thats what the best teams do, pick up the best drivers. Max could have had the best teams, but he jumped up instead of taking a top team. His jump to Toro Rosso was a choice he took instead of joining the Mercedes family, now he has to regret that so badly.

That I agree, I don't think they have made the best decisions for him so far.

Still that has no effect on his talent, its there for all to see.

He does at least have the record as the youngest winner in F1, very impressive.

Yeah... and and... Vertappen didn’t even win a race in his second year of car racing! A disgrace that he is on the grid. Hamilton is the only one to smash RC cars. Anyway, it’s all because Alonso hasn’t got a fair chance.

You do realise 5 of those 8 were collisions and spins where Max was at fault. So please dont try and paint it in such a way where you want people to believe Max broke down 8 times and got very unlucky.
Ah, useful info. =D>

And You only get the best seats by being rated highly by the people that matter.

What Max had was dear old daddy trying to force his son as high and as fast as possible, its why he is stuck at RBR now.

I feel sorry for him sometimes. He was forced into the sport at 17. And he is 22 now. He tried for SIX years to get the youngest WDC title but only to see it billow away like blue smoke from the tail of his RedBull. He might struggle to win for another five years before Lewis retires. Then who knows, George Russel and Charles might just sneak a few WDC's in there. Max might be the new stirling Moss retiring without a single WDC.

To help this mature and interesting discussion, and because of the emphasis on facts, I thought I'd help you guys with a clear comparison table of their junior careers;
Age	Lewis Max
        Pos. Series Pos. Series
16	7	F renault	3	F3
17	3	F renault	12	F1
18	1	F renault	5	F1
19	5	F3 6	F1
20	1	F3 4	F1
21	1	GP2 3	F1
Conclusion: Clearly lewis' career is far superior, Max' best results are two third places.

(Real conclusion: There is no sense in comparing their junior careers)

And, what is your point exactly?

It was only the same as dear old Daddy telling Hamilton to pester Ron Dennis.

Really? A dumb decision turned lucky!

its the constant little digs like this that spark the multiple pages of arguments in so many of the threads.

If you think the son of a poor working class guy has same opportunities of the son of a wealthy former f1 driver, you are sadly mistaken!

You are in know position to decide if its dumb or not, unless you know exactly what mercedes presented to Lewis behind closed doors in 2012!

Yes you're right, the middle class father had less money than Verstappen.

Obviously all that money didn't count for nothing as he didn't get in the best team unlike Hamilton.
