History of independent Formula One teams but with a main manufacturer factory works-backed status team (semi-factory)

Post

In the past we have McLaren-Mercedes in 1995-2009, BAR-Honda in 2000-2005, Benetton-Renault in 1995-2001 (1998-2000 Benetton's Renault engines developed by Supertec-Mecachrome independently), Williams-BMW in 2000-2005, Sauber-BMW in 2006-2009 (chassis jointly built by both BMW and Sauber), Williams-Cosworth in 2006, 2010-2011, Marussia-Cosworth 2013, McLaren-Honda in 2015-2017, Jaguar-Cosworth in 2000-2004, Ligier-Renault 1992-1994, Lotus-Renault in 2011-2014 and Prost-Peugeot in 1998-2000

Any additions?

Currently we have Red Bull Racing with Honda in 2019-present

McLaren-Mercedes was in a time that Daimler had a majority stake in McLaren. McLaren-Honda is a better example. Others are of course Lotus-Ford (Cosworth), Sauber Mercedes and of course Williams Renault.

Sauber was also in BMW’s ownership during their time.

Uniquely, Mercedes-Benz also develop a "SLR MCLAREN" supercar jointly-built by MCLAREN

Daimler was the biggest single stake holder but never the majority owner, they had ''only'' 44% of the total stakes in Mcalren
