LOL

It's amazing how it goes 2+secs faster instantly in Alonso's hands...do they not trust Piquet with full throttle or something?
I think you hit the nail on the head there. Piquet is seemingly out of his depth with this car and is going to be absolutley annihilated in the season to come.

Roman Grosjean must be excited at the prospect of gett a race drive in this ugly pig sooner than 2010

I don't think so. Why waste time with Nelson trying to find a good setup? Let Piquet do the reliability tests and longer runs to understand the tyres etc. While Fernando mainly focus on testing new parts and finding a good setup. Sounds logic to me. Also, don't forget Nelson had a lot of bad luck with the weather and issues with the car since his tests were always the first 2 days of 4.
Lets wait for at least Melbourne to draw conclusions.

Here are todays final times:

1. T. Glock Toyota TF109 1:19.814 141
2. F. Massa Ferrari F60 1:20.238 +0.424 134
3. F. Alonso Renault R29 1:20.296 +0.482 152
4. H. Kovalainen McLaren MP4-24 1:20.535 +0.721 85
5. M. Webber Red Bull Racing RB5 1:21.021 +1.207 81
6. R. Kubica BMW Sauber F1.09 1:21.099 +1.285 65
7. A. Sutil Force India VJM-02 1:21.190 +1.376 63
8. N. Rosberg Williams FW31 1:21.421 +1.607 125

The only thing that scares me is the upside down cross on top.

So what? Isn't Ron entitled to his own beliefs? At least it's just an inanimate object with no performance benefit to the car... unlike the Reanult team who uses them to get quick times on the sheets

Pitot tube for free-stream air speed....they can probably correlate the strain gauge suspension load data with the airspeed to get downforce data....

I think the operative part of that is Alonso seems quick; Not so much the Renault.

Regardless though, it's a pretty competitive time.

Different weather, but its still near a second shy of what Vettel did earlier in the week.

If that is Renault maxed out... then they might be a fair whack off the pace.

I don't know why, but I'm starting to worry about McLaren's test pace, they haven't hit the front at all...

there has been some interesting trends so far.

Im not convinced BMW are slow, as last season they were off the pace all the way up to q1 in melbs.

Hoping RBR take a big step. They seem to be going in the right direction.
