What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

Uh oh. His presence around road construction of ANY kind makes me nervous.

A lawsuit over land and a waterline in the way for the parking lot, now, thinking ahead is not xactly COTA's forte, is it?

This x-police officer probably knows precisely what he's doing.

I really, really, really want this to happen. If anything, forget the grand-stands, and the press-boxes, and the hospitality centers. Just build the paddock, pits, and pavement. You don't even need the lights, just have someone with a flag to run the start and a checkered flag at the end, old school!

Be sure to read the long interview with Geoff Moore of COTA.

This strategy, to start a new project without being anywhere close to proper funding and hoping for the government to step in, might have worked where I come from, but I seriously hope that Texas politicians have better sense?

Neat pile of dirt that, but ready in five months? Perhaps someone had Formula One confused with dirt track racing?

I agree, I doubt it will be ready in 5 months. However, as luck would have it, the race is in November - that's 9 months.

Xcerpt from the article provided by the bearded fella above, perhaps six months then;

Q: When do you have to do to get ready for that inspection?

A: It will probably be in late August, early September. I don't know the exact date right now, but we have to have the track inspected and all the facilities that are required to have the race. ”

Q: Do you need to be completely done by then?

A: All the track-related facilities will. There will still be work going on at the site for the fan comfort areas, but we'll be ready.
