What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

I will wait to see how it will shape up.

It looks in this photo like the curtain wall is going up on the pits and it also looks on the right like the grandstand is going vertical...

Dont curtain walls come glass (or other cladding materials) and frame together these days?

Good to hear that he's improving. I'd feared the worst from the initial report.

Yeah since initally I heard he was dead.

I've heard all of these from one person or another, and a lot more in the weeks after the initial announcement. Can't remember a lot of them.

"Phil Hill" for the Turn 1 hill is pretty popular. I'm pushing "Longhorn Straight" for the long back straight. Lots of mentions of Texas & North American drivers: Shelby, Foyt, Donahue, Gurney, Villeneuve, Andretti, Petty...

Texas Geological features: Big Bend, Red River, Balcones, Rio Grande, Sabine...

Texas Historical figures: Houston, Bowie, Crockett, De Zavala...

Texas animals: Longhorn, Rattler, Cottonmouth, Mockingbird, Chupacabra ;) ...

Other figures/drivers/cars, etc: Vaughan, Chaparral, Eagle, Senna, Bluebonnet...

There are a lot more.

I really hope that some parts of the course are named after the NASCAR greats as not to alinate that section of the motorsport community of US.

Been trying to remember some more...there was Jim Hall, Copperhead, and I was partial to Wandering Creek as the circuit name.

ETA: Lone Star, Ranger, Brazos, Alamo (Turn 15-18).
