That one person was the CEO of the company, and all the reporting at the time implied the road car would be faster than an F1 car. Even if this wasn't an internal goal, they made no real attempt to correct the media at the time of reporting.

Whatever. They gave themselves that target, in one way or another, as has been covered thoroughly in this thread there are reasons that that is an incredibly demanding goal, possibly not doable, the knock-on effects of chasing that goal are that there's an 1100hp 1100kg monster coming down the pipe, with the most serious underbody aero available this side of a professionally developed hillclimb special. That's cool as all hell (might freeze over?).
And it looks incredibly purposeful on track:

https://media.astonmartin.com/aston-mar ... lverstone/

Palmer and Horner are the ones on record as making those F1 claims, whether of the state of the project's engineering having reached that or whether it was intent is unclear due to the way they've been quoted. Those two are also notorious for being unreliable.

The corollary to all of this is that there are a littany of performace avenues reopened when you throw out the sporting regulations. ...Which is also a topic that has been hashed to death in this thread.

Let's talk about Rich Energy.

Indeed.

Provide quote claiming road version would be quicker than an F1 car. Again: not journal nor forum assumption. Establish that track and LeMans versions were not in mind from the beginning. Establish that track and LeMans versions sharing chassis, engine, drivetrain, cannot be considered as halo cars.

If any version of Valkyrie is quicker than an F1 car of unspecified year then Palmers quotes from 2016 about a halo project will be satisfied. If no version of Valkyrie is quicker than an F1 car, then only Palmer's quotes from 2016 about a halo project will be discredited.

Hey now. No need to try and call me out. I'm not making the same argument.

It's not much, but as this thread is a bit of a repository I figured I'd link today's latest.

I guess the more interesting thing here is that they've got whatever lump they're putting in the Valhalla up and running already. No word about the electric side of the equation.

Do you hear the metal whining noise in low rpms when it exits the storage door to go on track? What is that? The differentials?

I don't know but this shows an electric launch:

There's a clearly audible whirr

Strange version of Silverstone. Seeing as how they aim to challenge F1 cars, why not use the full F1 version?
Best WDC-drivers in F1 history:
Schumacher, Senna, Fangio

Driving a dominant car in the most dominant team ever, helped by favorable rule changes, against subtop teammates does not make you the GOAT (but still superb). It just helps you inflate/skew your stats.

I expect it's a combination of rain, the test regimen they were running then, and the fact that it's meant to be a road car so they're testing more than just setup for laptime at one track.

It's Stowe Circuit, within the main circuit. Often used to shake down / test cars I believe.

Yes. Commonly heard in race cars, but gear whine can be heard in road cars if you listen close enough.
After reading someone elses comments. Electric cars whine a lot too, but yes the same reason. the gears.
