Nice Picture. It also shows that they really photoshoped something away in some pictures

Looks like the intake splits into three separate ducts.

The radiators are also partially visible in that photo. They may be mounted at a compound angle. If it is not a moiré pattern caused by debris-mesh, then what we are seeing are radiator tubes which are angled relative to the vehicle-longitudinal axis in addition to being leaned forward about a transverse axis. Nothing new to F1, but something I haven't seen Red Bull do during the 2009-2018 aero formula. Might we also eventually find air-water intercoolers, to explain the tight sidepods?

the vortices looks a bit off, but I think this blue Ferrari will slaugher the competition this year.
Maybe VES is unlucky with reliability again and RIC will be champion...
So they take one element from the 17 ferrari and all of a sudden it is a blue ferrari. This Red Bull for the most part is a return to it's glory days from 2009 to 2013. Tiny side pods and coke bottle with lots of new trick aero bits around the whole car. When you compare it to the TR and alfa saub it is miles ahead in packaging.

One element so crucial McLaren wants it banned. 8) Anyway, it just sounds funny. I actually would find it great to see Verstappen win in his blue Ferrari.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Are the side protection beams hollow? RB being RB I wouldn't be surprised if there's a slot(towards their extremities) at the back to help guide air around the pods... Maybe even something F-duct-ish.

On the Ferrari I think those are actually just turning vanes (two black ones). But I think we are implying the same thing.

Just as I have predicted. I suppose that it allows a much larger surface area of radiator, and lowers the CoG by enlarging the widest point of sidepod and put as much components onto the floor as possible.

Yes, the side protection beams are hollow. No, they can't put slots in it - it is a supplied part.

However, I doubt the side protection beams are just sitting in the airflow - they have bodywork around them. That could have a slot in it. But it doesn't really matter if you can't get air to feed the slot.

There are ways . Maybe something similar to their s-duct intake, etc. but anyways just an idea let’s what they pitch with at testing/Melbourne.

I'm not sure if there actually are ways to do so, considering how it would first need to enter the tub.

Outside of that, it sounds like an over-complicated solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.

The problem of getting the most downforce with the least drag exists. I agree that likely any ducting, flow conditioning here does not seem like it will make a big difference, nor do I grasp how that would work there but certainly a valid question to bring up here. It did seem like there was a slot on the top of the lower side impact protection (the main one) beam, supporting the flow conditioners. It was also photo shopped (very poorly) out by RB (or whoever did that) so they either wanted us to talk about it as a diversion or it simply is a small trick after all.

Yeah. The white paint line on the road flashes through, as well, as a telltale.

Looking at this 360 degree video I noticed that sidepod wings are wobbling during highspeeds (or bumps). FIA took action against Ferrari's flap on the floor. Could we see some action taking regarding this?
