Ferrari F2012 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

9:30 was the time of the original launch. I assume they will put up pictures & technical info around/at the same time.

I think they've just cancelled the presentation and shakedown / promotional driving of the car because of the snow. The car will still be shown via the interweb and press release.

Yes the rear wing is too low, plus that's the 2005 car---> http://xpb.cc/viewpicture.asp?id=60416

Rumor has it that Ferrari will package the 2012 car up and send it overnight to the Idiada Test Trackin Barcelona for shakedown, they will be joined by McLaren and Williams there for a 2 day shakedown. Saturday will see them doing the first 100km arround the 2.158km track and day 2 doing a futher 50km straight line testing on the 0.85km straight they have there, whitch has a fan section so teams can see how their car can handle with crosswinds as well.

Ok I understand is Ferrari official twitter; thought we had some insider here...

Btw I think twitter and feeds are augmenting f1 fans discussion, as we see with scarbs, truzone, joseluis etc., making exchange of information, drawings and comments faster between forums also. Also it makes pictures like the f2005 above rebound a lot more before the chorus of "it's not the new car" gets loud enough.

Curious to see the overtweeted F2012 tomorrow. I think that they will show at least one "wow" item, and maybe others later. Even just one between front pullrod, detached crash pods, surface cooling would be a sensation

Ferrari has called-off the unveiling ceremony of the 2012 Formula 1 car launch due to excessive snowfall in Maranello. The launch was due to take place in Italy on 3 Friday morning, but there has been no let up in snowfall since Wednesday and the temperatures have dipped to -10 degree (C). The decision was taken as the 300 odds guests including the team partners, the authorities and representatives of media would have found it difficult to reach the venue.

Ferrari has now issued a statement that the car will be shown online, along with the interviews of the team drivers and officials.

Where does your image come from Crucial Xtreme ?

The lower 'wing-shaped crash structures featuring the solution Ferrari is said to use in 2012 remind me of the fins that featured many cars in the late 90s and until 2002-2003, like the Jordan 199 for example:

They can be powerful VG IMO... among their many benefits... if they exist
