A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
I am impressed. Looks beautiful. Great Sleek Sidepods. New Front wing, looks cool, the whole nose & Front Wing has been build in a way in optimize the Front Wing F-duct. With so much developmental time & with Mercedes choosing to go for this, there must be significant benefits.
Unless RBR & Renault work on some fancy exhaust or the inlet at the break of the nose offers huge benefits I see Mercedes challenging RBR & Mclaren-Ferrari & fighting for podium places. It is impossible to say if this is a winner or not.
I love the Rear Wing. Not huge Rear Wing like Mclaren last year or no cheap Monkey Seat. RBR,Ferrari,Force India,Lotus,Mclaren have all gone for the Monkey Seat to increase downforce. This car will be a monster in Monza & will have great Straightline Speed.
Absolutely loving this! Really big advance in the front wing department, tight sidepods (well thay had those a bit last year too but the SWB hide them) and a small looking gearbox! Well done AMG, I hope this translates into some serious speed on the track.
So there she is, in all her glory. The launch spec car seems to differ from the one they used yesterday in a few areas, we should know which one's the real deal when it hits the track in a little while.
What is the insulated cable running across the length of the sidepod to the heat shielded area at the rear?
