Sauber C32 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Smooth nose.... This years cars will be kool again..

You guys know how Sauber had that unique solution for connecting the airflow righ at the step nose spot where there was a loss of pressure..... I wonder if with this new nose that will become illegal or gone or what will become of it-?? Would it also maybe be useless-??

Like these 'covered shots' have ever proven to be reality. The car will look nothing alike.

Nose regs didnt change so it is still legal. If it is useful, I dont think so, because it prevented stall from airflow over the bump, a problem which isnt there with a cover panel

Perhaps not? Remember the FIA had Mercedes and Michael Schumacher test the revised Shark fin in order to display driver names/countries so its easier for fans to identify them?

This was just posted on Auto Evolution for the RB9 (rendered interpretation) with modesty fairings for the nose.

I apologise for the slight off-topic however, that may possibly answer the slight fin in the Sauber teaser photo.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Thank you so their could be some truth to the C32 teaser I have one question. Will the Shark fins ONLY be for placing the Drivers flag name and nothing else-??

As I'm not a professional and have no idea in regards to the Shark Fin this is an article talking about the shark fin and below it a press release of the FIA being interested in using it for 2013:

Explanation of the shark fin (What I could find in minimal time/effort):

Press release of testing Said shark fin on the Mercedes in order to aid fans in identifying their driver(s):

I took it in account. But at the rear wing I am quite sure I am seeing the sharkfin its tip. With those 2 points it looks like a renault style(2008-2010) shark fin, which is illegal since 2011.

I took a look at it Touche good sir, it does indeed look like a replica of the R29 Shark fin! =D>

the teaser pic is a picture of the C29 shark fin, the nose looks lower so maybe they modified the picture for the rendering, but that shark fin is too close for the regulations. the shark fin its self is not ban just the closeness to the rear wing is regulated and its so far away that it makes the use of it ineffective thats why no one used them

the red bull picture is not a rendering of the RB9 its just a press picture of the RB7 http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/wp-content/u ... 7_2011.jpg heres the RB7 on its release, im guessing they had the shark fin for more commercial space on the release
