Caterham CT-05 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It looks like they have gone back to basics, much like the T127 with its simplistic sidepods

Have you seen the size of the hot air outlets at the back, I think Caterham are trying to make the most reliable car this season, all they have to do is drive round and wait for the other cars to cook themselves, wings to fall off or not make it out of the garage. We could see their first win =D> .

They too have that green led thing on top of the roll hoop, is it to do with the electrical side of the power unit?

When you compare the sidepods on this car to those of the Lotus and Red Bull, Caterham must have had some real problems with packaging...

This doesn't look like the car that's going to lift them off the back of the grid.

I think, here we can see the turbo cover and probably a flexible hose for the turbocharger.

EDIT: Not a hose, just carbon playing tricks with my eyes

I think their nose solution is probably the most effective at allow air to pass to the rear of the car (on paper) perhaps a necessity considering the side pods which are enormous.

Huge cooling exit at the rear. Maybe they expect to tighten that up as testing progresses. This car looks like you could make it out of simple Lego parts.

Am I mistaken or do I see a front pullrod suspension?

also front wing looks wonderful, they really aim for an outwash design.

Looks like they put the turbine into the gearbox casing.
