Ferrari SF15-T Pre-Launch Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The whole year we've been told that James Allison was designing the F15T. Now all of a sudden it was Tobazis and Fry?

Sounds like blame deflection to me.
First of all Thanks for some info
On topic I think the Car designed by Fry and Tombazis was scrapped and james allison and his new team started it from scratch if the article is any thing to go by from October , so they have less time to develop but we can also say just like you said a Blame Deflection. Any way lets see how it pans out we are now less than a month on car reveal
Very interesting. So if the rumors are to be believed, then Ferrari have scrapped, what many here kept arguing "A FINE AERO DESIGN, that F14T was, which performed GREAT despite a weak PU". Some were even telling that, the F14T was in fact producing same downforce numbers as RB10 and W05 ! People who designed it are fired and now, a whole redesigning. Why would you fire someone who created such an efficient design? And the guy who dragged that car to some decent finishes, left them with no hope.

I was arguing here that they have gone backwards, at least on their front wing philosophy as front wing is fundamental to the design of any car. My statement was more based on the performance in down force dominant circuits as ultimately that is where a car has to perform. But I was argued hard to believe that, that FRONTAL design was indeed great. It remains to be seen if the same front wing design would be retained, if there is in fact a REDESIGNING.

Curious there's a different nose to the first version of this drawing in autobild

I think that a lot of this stuff is the NEW silly season.

Next will be the online releases of all the 2015 cars at the end of Januray..Few of which will look anything like the cars that will race on march 15th.
The first tests in Jerez in early February we'll start to see the real thing. Still a lot of hold back on aero parts.

Any chance you're a better translator than Google?

What do you think about a long nose like Marussia's nose on Ferrari?
The solution to high nose and long looks better than short low

Depends if you believe that graphic or not.
Given the ferrari nose is deliberately trying to spill air around the nose where the high pressure area is further up the nose than that graphic, I'm not buying it.

Here's another nose design version "à la Red Bull". Looks good =P~

The ingredients for the recipe of success shall be added in the following order: Attitude, Aptitude and Altitude. Inversions to the prescribe order could seriously prevent altitude from happening, therefore giving a sour taste to the mix.

IMHO, it is difficult to create an uglier nose than F14T one.
What is still not clear to me is if the front suspension will have more horizontal arms and a more angled pull rod (which should be a better solution from the point of view of kinematics and forces acting on it).

My understanding is that the nose tip must begin half way back along the front wing. If I'm right, this design won't fly. Read here: http://thisisf1.com/2015/01/04/2015-f1- ... -f1-noses/

That's the most rearwards the tip can start.

Ask Lotus and Caterham. They had the F14T beat for ugliness!

According to Leo Turrini, the car is being subject of radical changes over the project Tombazis has deliberated 6 months ago ...

In particular, while the Old project of F666 had surely a front pull rod, nothing is sure about the new project because front end is being revisited ..

Best position predicted for Melbourne: some 'small' points
