Renault RS16 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This is my guess as well. I think we might see better from them more towards the end of the season.

Doesn't sound from the below like they intend to use last year's car again:
Ever wondered what happens to an F1 car after its term of duty is completed? Lotus Technical Director Nick Chester has been telling the team's official website the story of the E23 since it ran for the final time in Abu Dhabi.

“It came back and was stripped down, parts were inspected and serviced. At the moment, both E23s are totally stripped down and sitting there as bare chassis. They only exist in kit form right now really,” says Chester.

“Each part is logged and tenderly cleaned then ‘filed away’.”

And with Lotus/Renault switching from Mercedes power for 2016, those E23 parts are unlikely to return to work.

“It’s the third year under the current regulations so it’s natural for this year’s car to evolve from the E23 on a design front. Some parts will share the same design although with a change of power unit, the majority of the parts are a new design.”

As for the E23’s successor, the wait for a glimpse goes on.

“We are working on it fully on all fronts and looking forward to seeing it hit the track,” added Chester.

"For sure" it will be interesting to see what PDVSA get for their money vs Total, especially now RG has flown the coop.

Do new Renaults still come with an ELF sticker in the back window?

Given how much fuel (and the oft-overlooked lubricants) plays a part these days, who will be supplying them?

May I ask where you get the information that they will be using Borg-Warner turbochargers?
