2016 car comparison

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Did you do this one yourself? If possible could you make the opposite as well? Would be interesting.

Looks like McLaren now have the largest Roll Hoop to rear swoop of engine bodywork. They might have size zero design under the gearbox but that weight is added on up top. Higher centre of gravity?

In comparison to Mercedes W07:

It seems like cars without split turbo are tightest ones  Though, it does seem like STR is a bit longer then others...Mclaren gained a few pounds at the back, and Mercedes looks generally a bit thicker but, seems like it works for them pretty well eh.

I thought so too at first, but it looks like Mercedes has similar solution for this to Ferrari. They made a big enough gap below the rear body panels for air to travel through it so they still get most of the benefits of having a tight packaged rear-end.

Bit of a fail. The pictures don't match up.
F1 is dead.
