Renault Sport F1 R.S.17

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks great. First true swan neck rear wing support I've seen in F1. Byproduct of the repositioned rear wings.

The pylon passes through the exhaust pipe a la Torro Rosso.

they are tilted the wrong direction 8)
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Be careful with that picture. I already noticed a couple of differences between the render and the car shown at the launch.

The floor rises up near the front, like what we've seen on the Williams. Perhaps something else is going on there.

Every car up till now has adopted the Mercedes style open ended Front wing tunnels. Although I'm not quite sure of Williams.

Overall the car looks very slick. Let's see how it fares when it hits the road. The bargboards and the turning wanes look quite artistic. They seem to have put a lot of effort to keep the air from squirting upwards, I imagine that's why they've gone for square bargboards, very interesting concept.

That front wing looks like copied from last years McLaren. Also why the bargeboards are so far away from the body?
Also talk about the drivers neck muscles, look at that air intake; it's huge.

That air box looks ugly

The sidepod from the front look very very very large

Impressive how they managed to incorporate the roll over hoop in that design

I don't see this masterpiece

but to say something with more sense we need direct comparison pictures

This high-and-wide airbox looks amazing. Like a cobra. Many features on this car seem to emphasize its width.
