Aston Martin Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer RB14

I think the rear end of the red bull is trying to get a more pronounced coanda effect to the diffuser by the looks of that shot from the rear.

Ahh, the corriander effect. My favourite. It's about time. ;)

Sorry this doesnt relate to flo-vis paint, but is that angle of attack possible without stall because of the exhaust flow?

This is what happened to RB14 X-wing in week 1:

The mounting at the front of the X-wing where it connects to the bargeboard assembly simply broke.

It's unreal how slim this car is :o
Indeed. Just look at that huge amount of space between the sidepods and the floor... Low-drag-concept to the extreme. The low COG middle part is even wider than the front, but this way it is creating much less drag.

Here is the 2018 Merc as comparison. Yes, different angle and so on, but the difference is easily spottable and it's huge.

It may be less draggy but it also creates much more lift, that's why we have undercut sidepods to start with.

I don't think those are the right picture to retrieve any robust conclusion.
the sidepods of the RB14 more than thinner, are different from the others (they have overcut more than undercut I would say) so any comparison should be done selecting pictures with great care

Yes, but as long as the optimized airflow to the rear and diffuser compensates for this effect, it doesn't matter, as a well-functioning diffuser is still the most efficient method of generating downforce.
