Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 C37

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Lowering the crash structure does make a certain amount of sense even if you can't repackage the cooling enough for full height intakes like the Ferrari, allows the shoulders of the sidepod to be pared back reducing frontal area.

Still, I feel like those sidepods are actually very old fashioned, Sauber is the only team still doing conventional midheight sidepod intakes when every other car revealed so far puts the intakes up as high as possible to maximize airflow over the floor.

What Sauber has produced is a far less radical take on what Ferrari did last year.

Sauber are also the poorest team on the grid, so probably haven't been able to spend the time on that area that they would like to.

There will ave to be a camera in every halo about that area.
actually, no.
Actually yes, every halo will be fitted with a camera facing the driver, it used to be just in front of the windshield but the halo blocks that now so it will be o the halo, are you aware of the FIA`S high speed camera that faces the driver in cases of accidents?

A high-speed camera to assist with accident investigation in Formula 1 is on schedule to be introduced for the start of pre-season testing next March.

Speculation surrounding the cause of Fernando Alonso's testing accident at Barcelona earlier this year was partly fuelled by the lack of clear video footage showing what happened.

The FIA mandated the use of the camera on all cars from 2016 and tasked electronics company Magneti Marelli with producing the device.

It will be capable of recording, in milliseconds, the movements of a driver's head during the crucial moments of impact.

The device, which measures around two centimetres by eight centimetres and is not much bigger than a USB stick, will record 400 frames per second compared to the previous standard of 25fps.

It will be mounted on the top of the chassis, just in front of the row of antennas, facing the driver. The height position of the device has

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

They ran with the upper flap only on the left today, so it might be due to damage.
