If the Ferrari barge-board area is the chiseled arm of an elite athlete the McLaren one is a gimped baby arm.
Just look at it! All stunted and stuff.
The same can be said for the whole sidepods, bargeboards and tea-tray area.
What is McLaren's excuse for this?

I truly think that's the key to the next few years of development to be honest. No other area is as free to be developed, other than the diffuser for the foreseeable future. The front and rear wings will be much more simple brute force devices and not too much difference will be possible other than the inboard area and how it interacts with the nose.

The only limit coming to the bargeboard next year is on the height of the leading edge, the part close to the ground is still free to turn into a wing like Red Bull and Ferrari have done.

Some here claim that the lower height of the bargeboard will be a major loss of downforce, but I'm not buying it, maybe it hurts teams that depend on having the bargeboard connect to the chassis like the McLaren more than Red Bull or Ferrari.

Why put a half assed version on it this year when you can have a better version integrated into next year's car. No one else is going to be bringing any serious updates for the rest of the season, so they're just going to bring stuff they can bolt on for next year and that's that.

They still lose out on development experience in the bargeboard area even if next year's aero is a big difference to this years. Actually, the front wing will be less elaborate, all the more reason to have a refined bargeboard!

Why can't they develop it this season and continue with the development into next year?

Correct. It's all about figuring out the right concepts to then designing the car with those in mind.

Minor changes to the front wing. Upper-most flap reduced in length significantly from the leading edge.

Those are all old parts. The floor that was shown a few pages back is the one we'll see tomorrow.

McLaren has prepared newer and older frontwing spec with low downforce flap configuration.

On-track perspective of the skinny rear wing. Wonder if they're going to use the same for Monza.

Probably, they might trail without the vortex generators on the sidepods as well. However I see them taking penalties there

That powers the diffuser so unlikely.

It seems the vertical slots are gone on this new version of the RW. Unlike this one:
