McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Did something change on the floor? Speculation was that 3 new floors (possibly of the same design) were being built? Looks like the same as he previous design. Unless they are holding that (and possibly slimmer sidepods) back for round 2 of updates

The air coming on top of the nose into those long slots is all going under the nose towards T tray?

Still super aggressive with the slots in the rear wing end fence. Would love to know how this “inwash” management of the airflow at the rear affects drag compared to the RB end fence which is mainly plane with a feathering of “outwash” slots low on the end fence interacting with the rear brakeducts

The Red Force Mercedes nose looks like a well thought out piece.

They look like flow conditioners for the air spilling over the nose. Similar to the sidepod vanes.

How is this leaving everyone else behind? It's basically a mash up of ideas that others have been using. The only thing different are the side pieces. If Mercedes thought they were beneficial they'd likely have added those to their thin nose. We shall see...
Aren't all cars basically a mash up of ideas? It's not like you can take a few photos of the other wings and put everything together and expect it to work.
