It's only new if you had a short memory. That's a pre-Austria, Monaco / France spec front wing. Obviously they have no clue what to do and forced to go back&forth with different elements to try to get lucky with best combination of downforce levels.

Yes he said they will bring a new front wing to suzuka, but he didn't say the wing on the picture is actually the new FW.
It looks very much like a previous spec FW.

Maybe there are a few minor tweaks and I cant see them, so thats why I asked whats different.

Max is indeed using a different rearwing to Albon (for now, if this is what they'll drive with). Max has more DF (a deeper RW). The easiest way to tell is look at how high the DRS activator tower is, the 33 car clearly has a higher arm then the 23). Max also has the new S duct exit. It is less wide so it will have somewhat less drag then the previous outlet and perhaps it will also compress the air exiting it more? Might just be an improvement instead of just a (better)compromise?

I do agree the FW on Max's car does indeed look suspiciously like the Monaco wing (closed thumb tip, the straight side plates). They also said (I read somewhere Pierre Waché said) they had some problems with their windtunnel data / real life comparison and their new wing (that was being developed for Suzuka) is thus not deemed an improvement (too much drag on high speeds).

But maybe this is just smoke and whistles and we'll see a new wing in FP1.

Mercedes is trying to reduce drag. They lose too much on the straights, and it will be painfully obvious around Suzuka which is very drag sensitive.
