In his tweet he says Gasly's rear wing produces less downforce than that of Verstappen. I think he means Verstappen's wing is deeper. But is the difference really the thickness of the mainplane? The edges look different too, especially in the middle where the DRS actuator is located.

Looking at the pictures, Gasly has a spoon style wing for lower downforce while Verstappen has a standard straight profile wing. The profile difference can be spotted by looking at the area of the DRS actuator support and pod (the actual pod and supports are different between the wings as well). Maybe they are going two different directions for setup this weekend, or at least for FP1/2.

scarbs pointed out they've added an additional support/pivot to the DRS mechanism, similar to TR and Ferrari. Visible in that image.

Haven't found an answer to this here: I'm wondering for some time now why the "mid wing"-thing has these grooves on it. Is it pure aerodynamics like a trip wire or has it something to do with flexing or production..?

The McLaren has them too, and they do seem to influence the airflow a bit. Anyhow, the attention to detail is amazing..

It's to comply with the rules about what surfaces you can see from above/below - that's why they match the parts below.

Is it possible that mechanical issue from Bahrain was diffuser flexing?

Those two struts were there already (implemented after winter tests, before Melbourne) but perhaps they were mounted incorrectly (not tight enough, too tight, one tight one not etc. Etc.).

I think they made a mistake in Either the spring stacks (but that can be solved) or possibly the weight (distribution) was incorrectly calculated/installed, wrong center of balance.

The diffuser is an aerodynamic and not a mechanical part of the car.

Correct, but they are not pre mounted at factory. And the team told media that the culprit was factory pre mounted parts.

To make the corner where the wing sits in similar (for more easy comparison) otherwise they would have been opposed.
