McLaren MCL34

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They didn't. That's just due to corner entry.

Actually I've neen watching the testing on SkyF1 and some (if not most) cars have very high rake, not just braking and corner entry.

Noticed the Racing Point first and was surprised as I didn't think they traditionally used high rake.

The McLaren has a very high rake too. But this could obviously be teams just testing... as it is testing.

Rake is not something that usually changes even in pre-season testing. Mclaren, FI & Merc have had the same rake since a couple of years.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that teams test rake angles.

thanks for posting, to me it looked like mclaren started with lower rake compared to last couple of years, but this is more in line with what we are used to

That intake doesn't seem to be divided in sections after all...

100 laps per day is plenty, also this belongs in the team thread.

I wonder if McLaren have enough data to determine if there front wing concept is the right one to push forward with? currently doesn't slope down anywhere near as much say as Ferrari's. The other thing is Front wings are not easy pieces to develop quickly so were more likely to see this being on a raft of updates come Australia if they can see the performance is enough to change towards Ferrari's Concept?

Compressed air blow gun, likely doing some cooling to the internals/rads.
