Well the monocoque probably didn't suffer anything since it's further ahead. The brake ducts, floor and diffuser might have. As for the engine, the mgu-K, manifold and wiring is definitely gone. There's a good chance the block might've been damaged as well.

The inner nostrils seem to exit on the underside of the cap. Where to the outer nostrils exit? Does anyone have photos of the underside of the cape?

Seems a more violent failure than I thought, you can see serious damage almost as far forward as the roll hoop/air box. Hopefully the gearbox is OK but I don’t hold out much hope for the rest of the power unit; I remember Red Bull had an issue last year where a steward destroyed an entire PU by squirting an extinguisher right up the exhaust pipe and it looked like a similar thing might have happened last weekend.

It was Ricciardo’s car and the turbo got destroyed.

Interesting. Most of the time is lost in the corners and made up on the straights. I'm not sure this much focus on low-drag is beneficial for factors such as tyre deg etc.

The Williams is a strange car.. how is it so bad in medium corners? I thought that if you suffer so much in medium corners, you would also suffer in low or high speed corners.

It does suffer in high and low speed corners though; slowest in both. But I get what you mean, it's relatively less. That might be due to most of the issues surrounding aero and less chassis. But Mclaren I thought would be much better in medium speed corners. Surprisingly second worst; losing a full second here alone.

Let’s hope that is just a one-race type of situation and not symptomatic... After last year’s car with serious issues with Drag, they seem to have gone to the other extreme... Probably expecting that additional straight line speed to give them an edge in the race at most circuits at the expense of the slow ones... I saw a chart in regards to which circuits required more downforce than others, I will try to find them to see if it’s part of a larger plan.

At the same time, in theory it should be easier to add downforce (with inherit drag) than to reduce it, so it could be a better base compared to last year.
