Mercedes W11 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Red is not the corporate color of INEOS. When you look at their websites you see that they use dark blue and orange. I don‘t understand why they decided to use a red background for their Signet on the Mercedes.
I think it pops out better.
Perhaps bright orane would have been an option too,
but perhaps be too much of a reminder to Mclaren and confuse people.
You want it to be absolutely clear your brand is tied to Mercedes, not Mclaren.

As for the blue, again, there is already the greenish blue from Petronas, and i think a dark blue wouldn't pop nearly as much (saying, it doesn't catch your attention) as the red does as it contrasts a lot with the rest of the car.

So from an exposure point of view, i actually do get it.

And just think about this: your eye automatically gets attracted or aimed first to the red airbox, most of anything on the car, from the get-go. hence, it works.

Thanks for that. My eyes can barely see what's going on there!

We are given glimpses of the W11 in this video. Stop video at the 7-second mark to see how the Ineos branding on the roll hoop/airbox actually fits perfectly, unlike on the livery launch car.

Some incredible packaging, it looks like.

Nah, the "side-fence" (not quiet part of the traditional bargeboard section, I don't know what else to call it) flanking the sidepod is too high (pre-2019 height).

Hard to tell, but I do agree the INEOS looks to be fitting pretty well on W11, at least from what we can see.

But TBH, the engine cover looks fluffy. Again stating from what we can see for now. :wtf:

I think the video shows the show car.
Livery and bodywork exactly match. Pause the video when the 44 is shown for comparison.

If they’re going for that matte look, the car will look amazing.

In my opinion, we see the actual car, and the show car.

You can see 2 distinctly different paint jobs/textures, with the glossy one that you linked as the show car.
