Williams FW43 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter does not belong here.

These images are probably of the FW42 wind tunnel model, but the video does give a big hint about the livery. Red, white and black.

If its a wind tunnel model its not going to be painted and in a livery, just carbon fiber. The white rear wing is likely just 3d printed so its white.

This actualy might be FW43. FW42 didnt have a full shark fin from the top, but only a small one for the number and T-wing. It also never had a double T-wing like on the shown model.

Launch spec FW42 perhaps, I'm sure that did?

The shape of the sidepods of that model look like Red Bull.

After watching the video on 0.25 speed, I am 94.73% that this IS FW43. On top of the before mantioned diffirances (no version on fw42 had those) , It also has more of a Red Bull uper guiding wain on top of the sidepods inlet and thiner rear susspension elements.

Large vents towards the rear of the engine cover. Largely replacing sidepod outlets? Which implies little or no rear-portion of the sidepod?

Interesting pictures. My speculation above seems like it would be very adventurous for a team that was trying to recover from a dismal previous season. Maybe the vents are small and simply supplementary to conventional sidepod exits.

Nice video. I'm sure the FW42 had a similar shark fin? The t-wing is definitely new though. It is really hard to tell with the lighting, but the cooling also looks far more aggressively packaged than the ultra-conservative back end of the FW42.

Here is hoping for a far better developed, more refined car than the one it is based off.

I know they are planning on revealing the actual car on the first day of testing, does this mean then they won't be having a separate shakedown test day beforehand?

I cant get the 3D shape of the vertical silver tape in this image (the two vertical ones on the right) to make sence on an F1 car. It makes sence in the other pictures, but other pictures also have additiona horizontal tape that is missing here.

Image

pic for reference, find the maching tape on both pictures:

I hope someone gets what I am talking abouth :?

I would of guessed that this was filmed all at once, so maybe the upper image is from the other side and mirrored, maybe the car is not simetrical :o ok ok, too much speculation now even for me.

Here the small guiding fins on top of the nose are also seen.

If it really is the FW43 that's a disappointment, it still looks as bulky as last years car

My initial thought was that it wasn’t even the final version of the FW42 but an early wind tunnel model of last year’s car. Considering that details tend to be hidden on digital renders when the ‘launch’ is done that way, I’d be surprised if they were giving us this clear a view of the FW43’s shape this early (it’s still more than two weeks to the launch and nobody has shown us their car yet)

I really, really hope it isn’t the FW43. My gut feeling is that they aren’t showing us the new car, it’s just a video to tease the colour scheme via mood lighting. I hope I’m right. The one thing I had hoped for was tighter packaging than last year, given what Racing Point showed was possible.

On a closer look, the bargeboards look very similar to late spec FW42. So this might indeed be the new car.

I can't imagine Williams has the resources to remove all the bulky design left over from the 42. I'm guessing the above is a version of the 43.

Williams has in recent years not really played the cloak and dagger game, I remember with the 41, everyone was sure the render released would have had way more barge board details only for the car to roll out in testing with the same spec with hardly any complex detail to everyone's shock and horror.
