A bit underwhelming from Ferrari. I know they have played it down but was expecting more (visible) aero updates...

Why is the rear suddenly in glossy paint, does it take more time to do the matte finish?
It already was last week and at the launch.
Still, the question remains. Is it the matter of airflow (velocity?)
Posting a bit different angle of the rear:

A matter of design. The riders number on the front is also in a glossy spot.

The reason is that the number needs to be changed for whomever is driving, so it is just a replaceable decal

Vettel's purple S3 time (26.015) was done either on the Yellow or the White tires as these were the tires he used all morning long...i'm not sure which though, probably on the Yellow Soft ones!

When comparing it to Bottas's Pole lap from last year on the Red soft tires the time looks really impressive!
Bottas 2019 Pole S3: 25.878
Vettel 2019 Quali S3: 26.611
Vettel 2020 Test S3: 26.015

That shows 2 things:
1. Ferrari is hiding a lot of speed!
2. They've found a lot of downforce during the winter and improved their low speed traction which was a problem IIRC last year!! =D>

Cut the corner, since it wasn't there on the official display at the end of the session. Actual best 26.9

Wow that’s really crushed my optimism haha. Does anyone have the official best sector times from the morning?

Don't know if this is true...i added his best sector times and i got 1.17.163! And his best time was 1.18.113!

That means he didn't do his best S3 on his fastest lap! And cutting the corner would only gain you 0.8 secs?? I would assume match more!

Anyway not sure what's going on here with Ferrari...

Just now on the F1 TV live feed someone asked about Vettel's S3 26.0!

They didn't mention anything about corner cutting...they just said it looks really impressive and it's where Ferrari lacked last year!

Dont forget that last seasons spanish GP used the C3 , C2 and C1 tyres. So Bottas Pole lap was done on what is being used as the Yellow tyre today. So If Vettel used the Yellow tyre in his 26.0 Sector 3 time, It was actually slower than last seasons Mercedes on the same tyres.

I was thinking the same but didn't know where to find the answer!

Thanks...really useful information!

Well, let's not forget, they took pole in Singapore after bringing an upgrade and since then, they have good low corner speed. Might not be still up to challenge Mercedes in S3, but much better than where they were in Spain last year.

Is this your assumption or did he actually cut the corner and the time is not noted officially?

I agree, but if you read the delta times in each type of corner, Mercedes is faster in medium speed corners, where the mechanical-aerodinamical balance is fundamental… undoubtely they found more downforce than last year.
