McLaren MCL35M

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like it’ll deliver more front end DF. All elements are slightly bigger for more total load. And even the outwash profile is slightly less extreme (slightly raised over the old)

I think so to, add to that, more of the mainplane is closer to the Ground as the curvature starts later, further out, should potentially create more ground effect

New floor and front wing. Finally the big update is here!! VERY EXCITED
**sees P11 and P14 in FP2** #-o

srsly though, surprised they changed the floor and the FW at the same time. Surely they would want to evaluate each impact separately over a weekend?
They were doing a lot of back to back with nose changes during FP1.

On another note, the Mclaren car over the last few seasons really looks like a complete package now. If you look back to 2019, when the team started to get its act together, the car looks so much more complex but refined. More like how the Mercs and Red bulls look. They have just kept refining the cars chipping away and now they have a beast!..

McLaren’s new front wing and a “ripe for development” floor introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix are only the “first round” of major updates, says technical director James Key.
