Red Bull RB16B

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Isn't it?! That cars aero looks so purposeful. Reminds me of how clean and flowing the RB8 & RB9 looked

Those lines along the (boomerang?) wings at the bargeboards, are the slits or raised lines? What are they for?

So the bottom of the car appears flat when viewed from below.

You're not allowed to have a direct projection to ground which isn't shadowed by flat floor. So cuts in the floor need to be mirrored by little slots in the boomerang.

Comparison of last races RW-configurations:

Although the above "red arrow comparison" is a bit influenced by camera angle as we can see here in the top-shot from Baku's RW:

They didn't run the first RW in Baku during race. The last RW is just a different version and that's the one they ran in the race. That has nothing to do with camera angle I believe.

In France, PER again used an old-spec front wing while VER used the new one (including Monaco and Baku upgrades). Third race in a row where PER using older spec than VER.

There is budget cap and there is question marq if it works or not. Probably they make only one unless they are sure it is a good one to use.

Entirely possible that Perez prefers the old one. Or the possibility is that Red Bull are preferring Max. Either is possible and equally as likely.
