Mercedes W12

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They haven't and just increasing rake well not solve anything but make things worse. The brake ducts, the front wing, everything is different for high rake and low rake.

Are we expecting a major (minor or any other) upgrade from Merc this weekend?

That looks new, the notch (for lack of a better term) looks like it's much more severe. also the INEOS section looks to no longer have a rounded corner.

Unless they've put the PETRONAS stickers differently, the shape of the sidepods looks different. The slope is far more aggressive and deep - are they going for Aston Martin-style sidepods (where the slope connects with the floor)?

We'll probably know for sure tomorrow once the car is fully assembled, so I won't get carried away...

Looks exactly the same to me. Remember the sidepods on the stand are rotated outwards slightly.

yep, looks more like the relative difference in viewing angle than anything else

Would they really have left an upgrade like this on show for everyone. To me it does look different but I think that's just the viewing angle.

Do we know where merc spent their tokens yet? It would be clear in time said Alison but its still not clear to me.

No. If F1 teams leave stuff out in the open it’s probably to distract.

You don't need tokens to change these panels.

I never said you did. It was a separate question

nicolas carpentiers:
I might be wrong, but this update from Imola was not displayed yet. The initial long vane was replaced by a much horter one, curved, to guide the airflow inwards and manage the rear tyre squirt. It went with the revised diffuser :
