I don't think that pointing the exhaust anywhere would provide any aerodynamic benefit; be it a diffuser, wing...foil anything.

First of all, how will you control the effect that varying rpm has on the speed of exhaust gasses. Would 16000rpm air over the diffuser be good? Would 18K be bad?

If it's exhaust, that is all it is, in a different location.

Hense the reason exhaust driven diffusers were dropped.

But the exhausts were driven straight into the flow under the car.

In this case it would be different because it would (possibly) be blowing air over the top of the diffuser...

It does. Accelerated airflow directed to an aerodynamic defice (such as midwing, rear wing) does increase downforce.

As said in the best the exhausts could be seen pointing down with a clean upper body.

The most distinct feature Ferrari F2001 had in 2001 was the exhausts outlets appearing out of the upper body work (but it was still clean/flat: http://www.f1technical.net/f1db/cars/im ... errari.jpg

Eventually it led to what we have now, full periscopes like that Renault above.

Give the F2008 a little more white and it will look just like a Super Aguri!

They should really do something else with that engine cover and bring back the black-only wheel covers. It's the cleanest car on the grid, but those things are a real turn off...

Wait,

Doesnt increasing the air speed between the rear wing and the mid wing create downforce? I seem to remember a physics demo in high school where the teacher placed 2 books side by side with a 1 inch gap between them and then laying a sheet of paper over top of the opening creating a square channel, and then blowing air from his mouth through the channel, and the paper was sucked down into it.

Wouldn't the "box" created by the rear wing, end plates, and mid wing create the same effect if the exhaust was blown through there?
