5) FIA today has decided that the sport has not been discredited with his behaviour.
I take it you didn't read any of the news?

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.ph ... lton-clash
"remained deeply concerned by the wider implications of the incident, firstly through the impact such behaviour may have on fans and young competitors worldwide and secondly due to the damage such behaviour may cause to the FIA's image and reputation of the sport".
"... due to the damage such behaviour may cause (NOT caused) to the FIA's image and reputation of the sport ..."
So after all they have decided it has not caused anything.

At any other category, or even in F1 with any other two drivers involved, a black flag would have been waiving on track few minutes after the incident to DSQ the driver who caused a collision under SC, but if the driver involved is fighting for the title, then the punishment is less severe?

guys you are loosing contact with reality....
AT ANY OTHER CATEGORY??
are you serious? please watch some NASCAR or WTCC
Not an expert at those, but I´d say collisions under SC are not allowed either #-o

I take it English isn't your native language? You must read it with the proper context given in the previous sentence. its written with the word "may", because they FIA is not Omnipotent, and thus can't know what the future implications of incident are.

So this is Vettel's atonement!
"Sebastian Vettel extended his sincere apologies to the FIA and the wider motor sport family. He additionally committed to devote personal time over the next 12 months to educational activities across a variety of FIA championships and events, including in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, at an FIA Formula 4 Championship to be defined and at the FIA Stewards’ seminar. Due to this incident, President Jean Todt instructed that no road safety activities should be endorsed by Sebastian Vettel until the end of this year.

Well, based on that statement I would say that meeting was nothing to do with additional punishment and everything to do with how they "fix" this in terms of public image.

I bet he won't even do half that stuff, or he was already doing it anyway.

Oh well, another chapter comes to and end, time to look on to the rest of the championship.

So in essence Vettel said he was sorry and the FIA Have patted him on the head and said 'Seb you are a very naughty boy. Don't do it again even though you have misbehaved and we're warned about your future behaviour before......Now go and play with your toys'.

Yep I bet he thinks twice in future.

Guess that means it's OK to hit somebody as long as you don't cause actual damage.
if it would be ok to hit somebody as long as you don't cause actual damage, then vettel should have received no penalty.
since it has received a 10 s stop and go your guess seems not right.
You are correct. If you hit somebody intentionally after ramming them due to failure to maintain a safe gap behind a Safety car through a corner, a 10 second stop and go penalty is sufficient. Because Hamilton suffered no damage.

A just action by the FIA to be honest. The stewards already punished him. They cannot punish you twice for the same crime. Amazing how the UK press can always make Vettel look the villain, they must really dislike him.

But let the vicious circle go on:
- Hamilton fans: Seb rammed him twice, also passed him, so 3 incidents, punish him harder
- Vettel fans: Hamilton brake tested, he was in his right

Reality from my point of view: Hamilton slowed down way too much (yes you can do this without hitting the brakes) in a half blind corner where you would not expect it. Vettel was maybe sleeping a bit. Vettel got angry and touched him briefly at a very low speed. Vettel got punished for his overreaction during the race, which made him lose the race. End of story.

Erm you do know that Kvyat was punished twice for the same crime right? Vettel has just himself admitted that he is the villain of the piece so the UK press has nothing to do with it.

Will you PLEASE stop making stuff up as Hamilton did nothing even Vettel has now admitted as such. What part of that clear factual evidence are you struggling with? If that is your point of view then sir you must be blind as now NOBODY involved agrees with you.

Sure Vettel was a t00l, but he was penalised enough, he could have won the race if it wasn't for the penalty. Loosing 13 points in a close championship battle is hard enough. Imagine this, if this happened last year and a race ban was applied it would not have bothered Vettel as much. Sure, Hamilton also lost 15 points, but Mercedes has to be blamed for that unless there is evidence that the headrest was unseated due to the Vettel incident.

Maybe Mercedes can take advantage of these new rules, say Hamilton is leading a race with Vettel catching Bottas for 2nd. Verstappen is in 3rd 30 +secs back.

Mercedes could order Bottas to ram into Vettel and take him out, serve the 10 second penalty and still get the team a 1-2........
