The Australian Grand Prix turned out to be one to forget for Williams. While Lance Stroll made it to the finish without any chance for points, team mate Sergei Sirotkin was struck by bad luck as a plastic bag jammed up his rear brakes to force an early retirement.

I think Alonso is one of the top three on the grid, unfortunately for him, he's in the sport at the same time Vettel and Hamilton are both of which are around the same level but are arguably better qualifiers. Unlike those two, Alonso has made some abysmal career choices. The too many years in the shadows have been his own doing.
I'd say it's more like people who don't like other teams not necessarily people that like Mercedes.

Alonso is indeed not as fast as Lewis and Sebastian on qualy, but if he is third his relentless race pace can give him many victories.
Not really fuel consumption changes quite a lot depending on the characteristics of the track, some I think they fill the tanks with much less than 105kg according to some sources. Then there is races that are shorter (Monaco) that will have safety cars (singapore, etc...) If this proves true, I think this could be the decisive factor resulting in another year of their dominance because fuel saving would hit the other engines on every track, regardless of weather, tarmac, tyre choices or whatsoever.
