Giovanazzi three tenths faster than Leclerc looks strong (didn’t see the session though so not sure if Charles had any issues).
I have never been 'sold on' LeClerc, maybe he is not what he is billed? One sample is too small to decide yet though

(of course if it does not hurt their own race too much)
And that's the killer part. If you have a Mercedes or Ferrari behind you (or even a Red Bull) why would you hurt your own race to hold them behind for a few corners? Battling a much faster car can cost you over a second in a single sector and they'll just blast past you on the main straight leaving you with filthy tyres from all your defending off line. Maybe you might hold one behind in somewhere like Monaco or Singapore. Maybe. But, if the pitstops are still to come, then it's pointless as they'll simple over/undercut you.

It's sad not to see people fighting for position but, with every point (and PU mileage) being precious, it makes too much sense not to.

I can hardly believe that Ferrari is 0,6 seconds behind but who knows. Let´s see what the long runs tell us. If they are also bad Mercedes could have an easy weekend.

I don't buy that. Fp3 will shed light but I think it's gonna be very close in Q.

Looks like I called the graining on the front end, I wonder if it'll change during the race since more sun is expected.

Not at all. Ferrari traditionally runs the engine de-tuned on Fridays, Mercedes not so much. The long runs paints things much closer, although if Hamilton pulls one of those magic laps there's no stopping him. When they turn it up tomorrow Ferrari will instantly gain 1.5 seconds.

Sky were talking about someone's index finger on the steering wheel. Did anyone get what that was about, or whom they were speaking of ?

Graining for Kimi ... Spin for Vettel.
Ferrari is suffering with low tyre temps. This race is already done, except they find a good setup by Q3.

Are they trying to simulate a HyperSoft - Soft race strategy? A 2 stop looks like a more realistic option this weekend.

I could see that being the possibility if the track stays cooler than expected.

Vettel sounding quite prickly with his team on the radio after his spin.

Hartley kept flipping them off.
