Even a new engines doesnt change the fact that Abu Dhabi is incredibly difficult to overtake. And once you look past the engine, you’ll realize that the tires will be extremely sensitive this weekend. So better to start on the old spec3 engine...
What if they use the new engine and run it in beast mode for the whole race?
I think overtaking wont be too difficult up to P-5. Engine penalty is 10 places.. a beast mode romp up to the top step is doable.
For Sure!!

I think overheating the engine would still be an issue then.

The current era of F1 Mickey Mouse tracks is highlighted by this abortion in Abu Dhabi.

You really wouldn't confuse it with Spa or Suzuka, would you?

most drivers don't bother, neither does Hamilton, and he won't be driving with the number on his car for 2019, as in the past years,

but as for me personally, i prefer seeing the WDC number on the car over the drivers' personal chosen number.
even though the number is personal and #44 is immediately connected to Hamilton, as is #33 to Verstappen and #5 to Vettel,
in a few years time drivers stop racing in F1 and their number gets 'inhereted' by a new driver.

Personally, #1 on a car looks to me as instant recognition of achieving that.

I'd much more like to see instead of Mercedes 1 Hamilton 2 Bottas,
to see

1 Hamilton
3 Bottas
2 Vettel
4 Raikkonen
5 Verstappen

etc.

no matter what team they're driving for.

but it's totally offtopic, just pointed it out due to Hamilton driving with the NR1 on the nose for free practice.

Dang that radio message from Bono - "there's a mode difference" referring to Vettel being probably turned up. Crazy how everybody knows what the other is doing!

Vandoorne was comprehensively beaten by his team mate. The gap is a whopping 0.572 seconds.

The beast in Lewis pops out a 1:35:693!
Gap to Bottas 0.699 sec, to Kimi 1.02 sec! That was mega.
