Strange that verstappen hasn't set a lap on soft yet. Also Merc looking dominant at minute, Lewis didn't even improve sector 3 on soft compared to medium. Also in commentary they're talking about people overheating tyres. Maybe this is now showing Merc couldn't heat tyres at Barcelona and are now in the zone with others overheating. James Alison did say he wanted a car for all tracks and all conditions (in terms of tyres) - suggested a car kinder on tyres. Would be fascinating if this is the result of that.

I know it is still early, but where are all the experts that swore Ferrari had a sizeable advantage? Merc looks like they are going to dominate here. Although we have not seen the best of Verstappen yet. What the hell is Ferrari doing in FP2?

Predictable season i guess

Ham champ, Bot fired
Ferrari 2nd
Verstappen 0,5s slow
Haas/Alfa/Renault fighting 4 4th
Torro Rosso closer than last year
Racing Point once again waiting for a new car

Merc's car seems to like warm conditions. Pretty impressive.

Toto wolf has played a blinder getting all media to believe Merc was slow lol then they do this to make it look like a heroic comeback. Everytime they have a bad race they do this then bounce back immediately which isn't possible unless you always have something in hand or something extra waiting to be bolted on. Maybe Merc are still playing with competition trying to make it look close so viewers don't get bored.

Do you really think times for FP2 are representative of the order.

In the past Ferrari had a habit of setting fastest time in FP, then coming to qualifying they were out pace by the MERC. Less showboating and more focusing on their program.

Haven't even finished the second practice session of the first race weekend of the season and you're telling us it's already a predictable season....

...Right.

Bearded Bottas being brazen with the barriers!
lets see how long he can follow this "take no prisoners" approach 8)
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Either they have gone back to sleep or are trailing through the data trying to find something to show Ferrari are fastest just like in testing.

Other than Ferrari, the pecking order looks about right.

Not the poster you were responding to but FP2 is pretty important given that the time of day it occurs is most similar to race day conditions.

All teams are holding back a bit on single lap pace.

Bottas has really strong race pace, today, as well. Consistent, too, despite the hot conditions.

Agree that the session is important, but the outright one lap pace i wouldn't be so concerned, long run pace will show more than one lap pace.
