Are they bringing an upgrade?

Monaco has more mid speed corners. IIRC Mercedes was fastest in sector 1. Red Bull seems to be better at hairpins and very slow corners. While Mercedes is better at slightly faster more twisty bits.

I think Mercedes advantage will be in the final sector. Whereas Red Bull will be faster in sector 1, sector 2 is the ballsy sector so it's a toss up, and the driver makes the difference.
Nope. In Monaco Mercedes was faster... everywhere.

Yes, but in Monaco redbull was still using the previous FW, the new one was a massive improvement. I am expecting a very close qualy here.

I think mercedes takes this one quali and race, RB second, ferrari third. Obvious reasons.
I wouldn't just count everybody else out just yet. Ferrari with that Qualy Rocket Mode can cause some concern, remember when Bottas was saying they were losing 4 tenths to Ferrari in Monaco on the straights.
Didn't help them much in hungary, or monaco though.
Its a different track that of Monaco and Hungary.

Last year we all expected the car with the most Df to go for pole and win (Ferrari or Rbr), yet it was Mercedes who came out of nowhere. Its a difficult and unpredictable track. We cannot simply write it as Merc track.

This year will be just like last year, the team/driver that can get their tires into the optimum operating window, and keep them their the longest will have the advantage.

Mercedes also came up with one of their biggest upgrades of the year in terms of slow corner performance and managing tire temperatures after their struggles in Spa.

Singapore '18 was the birth of Merc's special rims and unique wheel drums, which saw them start to blitz Ferrari at Singapore, Russia, and Japan (until Ferrari protested and Merc altered the setup at the US GP, and until they secured both Championships in the event of a protest - which never came).

Be careful. Ferrari is known for bringing downgrades from time to time, so we could see Ferrari being 1s slower than Mercedes in Q3.

I think they will be stronger than in Hungary but still behind Mercedes and Red Bull. I think this weekend´s best thing could be the batlle between Verstappen and Hamilton.

But they're still bringing Vettel.
I have the feeling that Vettel will have a good weekend. It can´t be worse than Italy, though. #-o
No? :o

If Vettel did make mistake here in SG, then it is something he does it for purpose. Lets wait and watch.

Reading the news about next year's GP where turns 16-19 will become a straight got me checking google maps to see how the track will be!

And my question is why haven't they done this already all these years?? It will create a great passing opportunity...the complex of turns 16-19 just doesn't promote overtaking and hasn't got anything great to see at least from TV!

The grandstands can also be turned the other way around and the spectators will be able to see cars coming fast into a braking zone!! I think that's much better!

I think they should turn right off the Anderson Bridge, down to Finlayson Green before turning back up to rejoin the Esplanade Drive. That would make the big stop at the end of the Esplanade Drive a real over taking spot as there would be a decent long run towards it. On Google, it all looks simple enough to set up.
