god the politics are going to be a whole new level of inane this year :wtf:

lol tho it's not really inane is it? It has a purpose. Everybody, nearly, would prefer a level playing field, and this might bring it closer. F1 has always been big on politics and now we have the future of F1, the universe and everything

we just have to embrace the insanity, not take it tooooooo seriously, let it entertain us and try not to get too polarised

You're right, but it will seem that way once it gets chewed up in the forums and comment sections of various social media.

When AMuS added up every team's fastest sectors in Test2, guess who was fastest? That's right, Il Scuderia!
Vettel missed the chicane to get that fastest S3 time.

Also Max backed off at the end of his fastest lap we mustn't forget. So I cannot wait!!
The lap he backed off wasn't gonna be his fastest. He was 0.15s off coming out of final corner and just lifted because he wasn't gonna improve.

Verstappen finished 16+ seconds behind Hamilton (who had a 7-race old PU) in Abu Dhabi last year.

If Verstappen beats either of the Merc drivers on outright pace in Melbourne, it will have meant that RB had the biggest gains of any constructor over the break, and that Mercedes dropped the ball completely over the winter break.

I don't get you point here.Max was comfortable the quickest Guy in Mexico and Brazil.Merc doesn't have to drop the ball to be beaten it differs from circuit to circuit depending on the character of the car .Merc will lose in Australia there is no where that pu is ready for prime time.

FYI. This is Australia, not Spa or Monza! A bit of experience should have helped. Nevertheless.

This track is a lot more about traction, mechanical balance and a great deal of downforce. Last year, Lewis on his pole lap, hit 320 at the start straight (before turn 1) and then 312 before turn 3 and 309 before turn 13. Those were the only instances where he was doing more than 300, meaning the PU was under the most stress.

Even if the 2020 PU is de-tuned to only churn power to that of 2019 Australia levels, with the added amount of downforce and overall car optimizations, W11 should still be able to take pole! Track position is the king on circuits like Australia and once a car is ahead, race is just a matter of management.

I've got a feeling Bottas is going to grab pole this year, he has been getting closer to Lewis at this circuit. He looked way more comfortable in the car on the fastest tyres and lower fuel runs in testing. As for the race, whoever leads going into the first corner will win it IMO.
