Speaking of no overtaking, I just read an AMuS piece that stated because of the continuity with the rules this year, the cars have substantially more downforce than last year.

The drivers have reported that following in the '20 cars is the worst that it has ever been. On some tracks, cars behind will need a delta of 3-4 seconds (!) to be able to overtake the car in front.

Consequently, I think the '20 season is going to be about qualifying. The cars that can qualify on the front row will streak off into the distance in clean air.
Yes and the cars have converged so the delta will be less than ever. We can only hope the 2019 tyres will fall apart under the strain (which makes me think DAS could be especially genius, and does it cool them when they're following??)

Only thing is that you might need to bring your own Tissues and Toilet Paper. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-08/ ... s/12037046
Paper can not clean enough. I recommend to use water for every cleaning beside toilet paper, one to three time hand wash with soap after the natural activity

Pirelli has the pressures cranked up so high that I think they’ll be fine (from a structural standpoint) - they’ll just be soul-crushing to deal with from the drivers’ perspectives.

Andy Green recently stated that he believes DAS could be worth multiple tenths of seconds at certain tracks. That’s a significant weapon.

i believe them when they say they're not quite sure exactly what the benefits are going to be, i think that makes it even more fascinating. But the fronts will run cooler when they're parallel won't they, and with more downforce and more wake from the car in front the rubber is going to try and overheat more, with more shear force on it or more sliding or both. So it seems to me that even if they can protect the carcass with higher pressure that cooler front rubber is going to be worth a LOT. Plus the high tyre pressure will balloon the carcass and concentrate the contact patch on a smaller band of the poor rubber!

the whole suspension thing is gonna be really big this year, with rear steering and varying ride height and tyre life. Red Bull are really awesome with suspension but now maybe Mercedes have caught them, let's see

Just returned (today) from a cruse where an Italian port scheduled to be visited was skipped in favour of the islands.
I do not know if the line were refused by the government or if the line were being prudent. This is my personal speculation as we were told it was due to bad sea conditions, but TBH, I think most passengers were glad and did not question it.

Mercedes have been quite unreliable at Melbourne in the hybrid era.

Doubt what? That they have a better suspension then RedBull, strange I’d have said they have done for many a year.

I think he meant it is already more than a year that Merc is ahead lf RB with regards to suspension.
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

I was replying to the person quoting Andy Greene saying that DAS is worth a few tenths. It's not. Front toe isn't as effective as rear toe regarding direction change. Mercedes DAS only works the front wheels.
