2021 British Grand Prix - Silverstone, July 16 - 18

For ease of use, there is one thread per grand prix where you can discuss everything during that specific GP weekend. You can find these threads here.

mods can we lock this thread? It's pretty much just going nowhere (and I have played my part)
I can see why you might want to lock it, but the benefit of this thread is that it acts a place for all of this to happen without polluting other threads. Sacrifice this thread to keep others "safe".

If this thread is locked, the arguments will just spill in to the team threads etc., and the mods will end up working hard to keep those threads clean. Better to leave this thread and let the arguments die off naturally.

You can just ignore the thread if it bothers you. You won't then be bothered by the arguments elsewhere either. 8)

The 10s penalty given to Hamilton was fair. I know how fast that corner is and it’s such a tough corner to overtake at having raced the track myself.

I’ve seen many drivers in junior categories racing at that corner and they’ve produced similar incidents.

F1 cars are travelling a lot faster so it’s not really a place to make an overtake unless you’re fully committed and fully down the inside.

What is it that is so difficult to understand? It’s overly clear that Verstappen would be guilty of similar offences as Lewis was deemed guilty of earlier this year on two occasions, if it weren’t for Lewis backing out of corners that he was entitled to because he was ahead. Divebomb someone and hoping they will leave a room that they aren’t required to is no schooling or racing skill whatsoever, it’s pure damn luck that nothing happens, and a testament to the other driver’s anticipation and self preservation to not risk a huge points loss.

Not that I expect you to change your mind, since you go on and on about the same thing over and over, but above might help you understand what he means at least.
I love how you completely ignored my point about how Hamilton’s win at Bahrain 2014 was just him pushing Rosberg off the track on numerous occasions. He did the same thing at USA 2015, Suzuka 2015 and Canada 2016.

Hamilton fans are just bitter that there’s someone better than him at dirty driving now.

Fair enough.

Compare to current F1 drivers that have stated it was just a racing incident.

I think the F1 drivers have a better grasp of what is involved in overtaking at Copse in an F1 car than a driver from a junior series does. I respect her opinion as she's a racing driver, but I give the opinions of those who are the peers of the drivers involved more weight because they have actual experience, not just extrapolation.

You just confirmed what i said, especially considering your established driver loyalty.
If you say so. If you think everyone is jumping up and down in anger then you're mistaken. Most people aren't. Max / Red Bull fans are, most others aren't. The media are happy to stoke up a story that isn't there, but other than that, nope, no one cares.
A classic oxymoron.
Media is writing the story because there is a reason (51g impact on a human being), you think it's a stoke up, you say no one cares, while clearly there's is a concern all around.
The only reason 51G keeps being brought up is because it sounds dramatic and ironically Max wasn't injured. Big crash, no injury to speak of. Besides, it wasn't Max's body that took 51G, it was the sensors/car.

I find it bewildering that somehow Hamilton is more and more responsible and deplorable the more that sensational aspects of the crash are discussed. It's racing, not commuting to work.

When you miss the apex, you miss the apex. HAM took too much speed in coming from that angle into the corner, hence he understeered.

Sorry, but the stewards had a brain fade claiming anything about the apex. Hitting an apex is not a requirement, nor does it mean a driver will or will not make the turn.In fact it's actually slower to hit the apex of certain turns.

for example check out turn 6 from Vettel's 2011 pole lap in Istanbul Park.
Imo Hamiltons positioning into Copse was fully intentional and not based on not making the corner.

Hamiltons position would seriously hamper Verstappens exit, had Max decided to acknowledge Hamilton being there and considered risk vs reward.

Having smiled at all above, I think he would be a good steward. I doubt any one could sway Kimi from what his own decision is
