Well Vettel did beat Webber in qually in 2009. But I think we'll need to see - I always think that Catalunya is a "cursed" track; where none other than the polesitter will win :P

Not sure I'd call it a "curse" – just a case of the track being dominated by one factor – downforce... The result is that whoever's quick in qually is also quick in the race.

This may change this year thanks to the DRS being usable in qually but not the race.

Indeed! But it's always been like, "be on pole and you'll win" I remember there was one year with some freak accident taking Hakkinen out of the race when he was miles in the lead, no? then polesitter Schumacher won, despite being soundly beaten by Hakkinen.

That is true about 2009, but that was back when people qualified with their race fuel. I cannot remember if Vettel was carrying less or more fuel than Webber.

Both cars clocked in at 651.5 kg (according to the old 605kg rules, that's 46.5kg of fuel). Exactly the same to the 100 grams.

It´s a driver´s track for sure. Not so much as Suzuka but it has a nice flow to it.

Sucks that we have to wait another 2 weeks though..

I wonder how much of a help the gathered data from pre-season testing will be. I'd love to see MGP do very well here, not beating the RedBulls but probably coming as close as McLaren was in the opening races. I'd also love to see MSC get a good result (podium) just as in 1996 when he drove almighty in that Ferrari.

Yer, not sure how much data they can use from pre-season testing, now that it's quite a lot warmer. No doubt they will take some, but I think last year's data probably is more useful.
Yer.

Are you talking of Catalunya here? Catalunya is notorious for drivers not being able to make much of a difference.

There are two uses of the word AFAIK - a driver-enjoyable track; and a track that shows the qualities of a good driver (ie Monaco; Spa; Suzuka)

Yea ;) Tracks made with the driver in mind like you said.

Personally i find Suzuka to be the best driver´s track of them all. It´s probably a driver´s track in the other sense aswell due to the fact that it will kill try to kill you if you go off. But just the layout is simply astonishing in my opinion.
