thanks strad, however i've got my hands on a much more important model

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321020635023? ... 1439.l2649

i bought that bad boy last friday. had a payrise at work and treat myself.

The Red Bull is a christmas present so i'll wait to build that, however the Mclaren MP4/6 1/12 scale is a beast i've wanted for years. Got a collection of Senna Mclarens going on, i only need the MP4/5B to complete the set.

i promise to post pictures of the moment i open it to the moment i finish it as i am so excited to share this with my fellow F1 techers

Are there any sites one can visit to buy these or do they all come from Ebay? I would love to do this in the evenings and assemble my favorite F1 cars :)

I was thinking more of a specific brand that you know holds a certain standard and fidelity in their models.

Look for Tamiya or Hasegawa...I've built a few of each...they're good quality and turn out as good as you are capable of making them...In my case about a 7/8 on a scale of 10

Tamiya and Hasegawa are very compareable..top of the line reproduction and all that,,,just I'm not as steady of hand as I used to be and sometimes the instructions aren't as clear as I'd like but the quality is great. Now as I say..the finished product is up to you.
I also collect Exoto and CMC diecasts so my standard that I don't meet is pretty high

The model manufacturers must have loved the day the teams started putting heat shielding on the engines. Much cheaper to make now..

I was looking at ghetto vacuum forming the other night and thought this could be of interest to you if you cant purchase the model that you want. We are technical people no? Build the car you want yourself!
