Jaguar's XJ13 - 50 years on

Post

Gentlemen - perhaps mid-1960s racing technology is rather old hat as far as this forum is concerned but I thought some of you may be interested in my ongoing project to recreate Jaguar's original 1966 XJ13 Le Mans Prototype.

Having acquired the only surviving complete prototype engine in private hands, I set about trying to recreate the car exactly as it left Jaguar's Competition Department in the summer of 1966 - as originally envisaged by Malcolm Sayer and Jaguar's engineers and rather different to today's one-and-only original after it was heavily crashed and rebuilt in 1972/73. I wanted to show the car in the form it took when Jaguar's hopes of a return to Le Mans were still alive and well.

The dream is to see the car on track lined up against the cars Jaguar had in its sights - The mighty GT40 and sublimely beautiful Ferrari P4 amongst others.

The story of the project may be found here http://www.XJ13.eu

It is great to see projects like this which help to keep proper hands on engineering skills alive.
Next year we hope to expand our vintage/classic restoration company in Norfolk.
I am hoping it will include extra workshop facilities for owners to work on their own cars within a club environment.
We already have a complete engineering shop, body paint booths and wood shop for coach building.
Our problem is going to be increasing our core workforce.
Real craftsmen are difficult to find these days and we need incentives to develop and train the industry.

I love your idea for extra workshop space for owners to work on there own cars, I am looking for similar space at the minute for my Sierra Sapphire project but havent found anything as yet around here
