It would be cool to work on that project....

Very cool! Anyone knows why they have those two little wings outboard of the rear endplate?

Maybe if Andre is happy I will post a picture of the MVRC Test Car in a the next day or so....
Yes please! Don't underestimate the value of a feedback O:)

That video is pretty cool. The tunnel shots, how the car squats under downforce. Also very interesting CFD post processing. It seems like they are doing some transient simulations.
Regarding myself and TF, we've been quite busy lately developing a very different type of vehicle:

And I thought MVRC rules were complicated to follow at times, try to accommodate designers' wishes!

Hopefully workload will be slightly less for the 2019 edition.

Spy shot of the MVRC test car....

No trick parts, just making sure the legality volumes and given parts "work" together...

Thanks!!! The first 2019 car.

I think it is a matter of perspective view, but it looks quite short if compared to the 2019 F1 cars.

How long is the wheelbase?

it’s 3.2m... interestingly all of the drawings in the FIA rules are based on a wheelbase of 3.0m... so originally I used that... but then decided to stretch it a bit so it’s a bit closer to what the teams actually use. I think it’s a nice compromise. Bear in mind that we haven’t chosen a calendar yet, so a shorter wheelbase May be an advantage at some tracks... 😉

Note; not all of the allowed bodywork volumes match exactly the FIA rules... to avoid having prescriptive rules which can be difficult to interpret we’ve changed the volumes slightly to guide you into a generic F1 car shape... All will become clear in due course!

That would still make the cars about 400-500mm shorter than their real life counterparts. At least, based on the information by Auto Motor und Sport. (https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... utos-2019/)

Wouldn't this make for slightly funky looking cars, or is the choice for such a short car mainly a compromise due to otherwise a decrease in accuracy or an increase in computing time?

Anyways, I'm definitely looking forward to the release of the rules!

I like the short wheelbase (they should limit it in real F1), but I am sure that we will have obtain a design much different from real F1 cars, expecially at the rear but not only (maybe we don't have enough space for the complex bargeboards), if we use such a short wheelbase. Real F1 cars are around 3700mm... 3500 mm would be a compromise.

...I’m expecting that the cars will for sure have some different designs from real F1 cars; our rules are a couple of pages long... the real rules are over 100 pages! 🤣🤣🤣

This is true and I agree with the simplified approach: but a slightly longer wheelbase (maybe between 3250mm and 3500mm) would not make the rules more complicated and it will help us to compare our cars with real F1.
