Google Sketchup - Formula 1 Car

Post

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had a Google Sketch up Formula 1 car, it has to meet 2009/2010/2011 regs. Just want to have a look.

Cheers,

Google Sketchup is a free 3d modelling program. Google "google sketchup".

I believe that one of the users f1 car designs on this site was in sketchup.

If I can track it down I will post a link.

I'd like to present idea for new nose/chassis design, but quick doodle wouldn't be understandable.

Therefore, I'd like to make it 3D in Sketchup, but as much as I know there isn't a symmetry tool like in more advanced CAD programs. Perhaps someone can share few tips how to design only one side of the car and than mirror it instead of drawing both sides.

Thanks in advance!

Design the half you want, select it all, copy & paste it, then right click the pasted section. Click flip along...(whatever axis you want) then join the 2 halves together. :) job done

Thank you! It was there all the time, and I had no idea, not even similar hints on help places that can be found on web. ](*,)

Now I got to find the regulations for 2014. The part which concerns cockpit safety structure and the bulkhead.

Design the livery straight onto the model? get a sideview of it, and paint it on. Or find an old template, and just update it yourself to suit your car.
