Yes really smart idea to get one man to have so much clout over F1. We could rename the series the Red Bull F1 championship.WilliamsF1 wrote:It would be nice if Dietrich Mateschitz bought lotus and renamed it Krating Daeng with his pocket change and forces Renault to quit.
After all Renault is hoping to get some money from Red Bull to buy Lotus (in spite of supplying them with not so great engines which probably broke performance clauses)
With 3 teams Dietrich Mateschitz will have enough clout to change the engine regs
I understand it's a fantasy idea that does not have to make sense but:WilliamsF1 wrote:It would be nice if Dietrich Mateschitz bought lotus and renamed it Krating Daeng with his pocket change and forces Renault to quit.

Saw somewhere that next year could be Renault supported Lotus-Mercedes, then in 2017 full on Renault team with their own engines. Gives them time to develop new engine. (Without token constraints?)McG wrote:What engines will Renault be using next year and beyond? Are they quitting being an engine manufacturer for themselves and other teams?
How does the token system constrain development? The token system only constrains the introduction of a new engine spec, not the development of it.kptaylor wrote:Saw somewhere that next year could be Renault supported Lotus-Mercedes, then in 2017 full on Renault team with their own engines. And once they've developed the engine it is a new spec...hence the token problem...Cold Fussion wrote:How does the token system constrain development? what if they say it is a new engine by Nissan/Infinity/Lada/Dacia/Mecachrome/Supertec or what ever else they can comeadrianjordan wrote:And once they've developed the engine it is a new spec...hence the token problem...Cold Fussion wrote:How does the token system constrain development? That's what I meant. Take a year out (2016) and the 2017 engine is a "new" engine and not subject to a limited number of changes from the 2015 spec motor.langwadt wrote:what if they say it is a new engine by Nissan/Infinity/Lada/Dacia/Mecachrome/Supertec or what ever else they can comeadrianjordan wrote:And once they've developed the engine it is a new spec...hence the token problem...Cold Fussion wrote:

This season has presented us with some challenges but the quality of the squad at Enstone is clear to see. I really feel part of the family at Enstone and I’m looking forward to building on the work done this year to deliver better results in 2016.”
