I knew it! I was just protecting my sources

I guess is the only place he got left that is competitive, dont know if Mclaren helps with this kind of negotiation.

The 2018 engine is worth a second over what they have now, the chassis improvement for next year could be worth another second and change best case scenario. or about .7 worst case scenario. Let's say McLaren can improve next year by 2.3 seconds, 2.5 if we're very optimistic and unrealistic. That would put them slightly ahead of the competition this year, in other words the deficit would be whatever the top 3 can pull out for next year. If Mercedes gains 1.2 seconds, then that will be the gap, if they can close it through development remains to be seen. Considering they're on their own financially for the foreseeable future, makes it seem tricky for them to consistently match the others.
As soon as they start to show improved results I think they'll start to sign new sponsors. Just so long as they're not still trying to charge Ron Dennis premium prices!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Motorsport.com:
The Woking-based team switched to a bright orange scheme this year, but there has been a push from fans for it to run the ‘Papaya’ version that Fernando Alonso used for his assault on the Indianapolis 500 (pictured above).

While a final call on colours will depend on the outcome of sponsor talks over the next few weeks, McLaren executive director Zak Brown says that a change to ‘Papaya’ is possible.

“We are starting to look at car designs now,” he said. “I think the fans want us to go to Papaya Orange for sure. When we did the IndyCar we had an overwhelming amount of 'Please make your F1 car like that'.

"We are waiting on a few sponsor decisions which also can dictate what a car looks like. I wouldn’t rule it out."
Some positive news :D :D :D

2018 Renault PU is at least 1 second faster than the current Honda power unit. Sorry for not being clear.

Honda pays 80 HP from Mercedes (in Q3), which in Austin is 1.7 / 1.8 sec. Alonso took 1.9 sec

Says a lot in this. Honda talking about the small update and won't introduce it unless they need to for Alonso. That's spec 4 binned for 2017 then.

well you keep waiting the almighty spec 4 i have better things to do than to read what Hasegawa and Wazari are saying and they already deleted what i said LOL.
I guess Wazari mentioned last month itself after McLaren and Honda divorce that it is unlikely that Honda will introduce Spec 4 this year. And I think it makes sense from them to not give away too many details to McLaren. They can now focus on 2018 engine without being stressed about poor performance this year.

About Spec 4, we will never know the truth - but now who cares?

2017 is almost done. We will know next year how good a engine Honda comes up with

Or he knew that Spec 4 didnt perform as expected and/or had reliability issues and they decided to not introduce it at all and that was the reason for the divorce.

It makes no sense to not introduce spec 4 this year if it's ready. 4-5 race weekends worth of real world experience will beat their shitty dynos anyway.

I wish whenever one of RB's Renault engines died they cut to a shot of the McLaren wall.

If Renault had been powering McLaren this year the thread would be calling for blood.

[Edit] Then again, maybe it wouldn't be much difference...
